DEFENSIVE/OFFENSIVE SCENARIO BUILDER

The Scenario Builder allows you to perform defensive and offensive LOS analyses.  Defensive LOS is evaluated from fixed positions like defilades or hasty battle positions.  Offensive LOS is analyzed by taking an alignment for a tank trail/course road and establishing firing positions along that trail which are separated by a user-specified distance.  The program analyzes hundreds and even thousands of engagement possibilities in a matter of minutes.  As the program analyzes each target, it also produces a LOS profile for visual verification and documentation.  The profile depicts the merged terrain and obstructions (if any) on an exaggerated scale for easy viewing.  Any shot that passes without obstruction shows as green on the program screen.  Any part of a shot that fails shows as red on the screen.  These red lines are z-elevation aware and can be used to identify a problem in the terrain which can then be graded to a new elevation as needed to establish LOS.  Once the program runs the analysis, it produces a target availability report.  This availability report shows which targets are available at each position (PASS) as well as showing targets which were evaluated but cannot be seen (FAIL).  In both cases, the distance from the firing position to the target or blockage is shown.  This information can then be checked against the appropriate training tables.

RangeSight can be used in the same manner as described above for the initial layout of the range.  Once a topographic survey is available, the range layout can be developed and a preliminary analysis performed to identify any potential problem areas before design work of the grading for the site and the targets begins.  Once the grading plan is complete, the surfaces can be merged and the LOS checked as described in the preceding paragraph.
